This buckle is bigger than the regular 1/2" buckle.  Its in the 1/2" buckle category because buckles are measured by the rectangular end or slots where the webbing or cord goes through and they are 1/2" wide.  The whistle part of the buckle makes the buckle longer and wider than a regular 1/2" buckle.
